When I think about the boiler work that Chuck Powell did for us, I thought, "There may be a lot of people with more expertise and more passion about what they do, but I don't know the first one". Chuck's vast knowledge and first hand experience is truly impressive. Chuck performed burner inspections and combustion tunings on our three boilers. He worked with our operators on safety issues and how to maintain boiler efficiencies after he was gone. The Moral of the Story:
​1. Measure and Manage Efficiency at the best achievable level for the present physical condition of your Plant.

2. Operating in that state as much as possible will allow you to produce the most lbs of steam for the least  lbs of fuel. It works better than any other known method.

3. If you maintain your efficiency; You burn a little less fuel than you could have burned, and therefore you have a little less stack emissions than you would have had.​
